For those Arete audience members amongst you, you'll recognise the name Emma Workman. Emma is a Queensland based writer whose works have been performed in three out of our four Arete festivals since 2014*. In fact, she was an integral player in the festival's inception.
Emma's latest play, 'Yielding' saw its debut at Metro Arts in Brisbane by THAT production company last weekend. As you can see from the attached, the review is glowing and speaks incredibly highly of Emma's work and states: "This could very well be the best Australian play written this year."
'Yielding' is one of six pieces from the work 'Let's Speak of the Unspoken' and all are supported intimately by Emma’s personal experience as a Disability Support Worker in regional and remote Queensland over a seven year period.
We want to acknowledge and celebrate the work of one of our own, albeit a long distance relationship! Emma is a writer whose career you should watch closely not only because her work is truthful, raw and relevant but also because she's bloody brilliant.
Emma (Sproule) out.
